High Energy Drop Weight Testers

Zwick DWT high energy drop weight testers are used for testing and evaluating fracture surfaces of ferritic steels as described in Standards API-RP 5L3, DIN EN 10274 und ASTM-E 436.

• DWTs are available in 20, 30, 40, 60, 80 and 100 KJ sizes. 
• A maximum height of fall of 5m is standard for all sizes. DWT 20 - 40 are alternatively available with a maximum fall height of 2.5 m.
• Test fixtures are fitted outside the test area, with high specimen throughput ensured by pneumatic specimen feed within 10 seconds. 
• Test area is electrically and mechanically protected via a safety circuit. The test is not performed until all safety contacts have been monitored. 
• In the test, weights fall on to a specimen supported at both ends and shatter it. The specimen is provided with a cold-pressed notch, this being the point at which  it breaks under the impact effect.
