Peel Test on Busbars

Peel Test on Busbars

‘Finger contacts’ in the form of a lattice are applied to the light-collecting side by screen-printing. Soldered-on strips, usually made of copper or aluminium, are used as busbars and carry the current from the cell. Fault-free connection of these busbars is vital to the operability of the module. To test the strength of the soldered joints the tear test is used with a special 90° or 180° peel-test kit. This kit is integrated into a single-column testing machine with screw grips. Depending on the PV manufacturer, the busbars must withstand forces up to 10 kN before they separate from the base.
